Sunday Stories

Although I forgot my camera and could not take pictures of the last Sunday Stories, I can tell you that children had fun making Boker Tov and Lila Tov signs for their rooms.

The signs are a reminder that every morning is a time to think of things to be happy about as you start your day.  Every evening is the time to be thankful.  I would like to hang a boker tov laila tov sign in my room.

The next Sunday Stories will be on March 24, 10:00-11:00.  The theme will be Passover.  See you then.

Like a real-life fairytale, they eventually fall in love and settle on the Georgia Sea Islands, among the descendants of West African slaves. Deep colored illustrations beautifully depict the characters and the scenery. Particularly noteworthy are the vibrant flowers depicted in the illustration of the Georgia Sea Islands, which contrast the darkness of the night sky when Sarah is in captivity. Herron includes a footnote of "Jews and Racial Designation," which will be of interest to teachers and students. Always an Olivia is a unique and important addition to any Jewish school or library. Although appropriate for readers as young as five, older children will be interested in the political and family history aspects of the story. This book is sure to be a favorite among teachers embarking on family genealogy projects. Highly recommended. Ages 5 and up. Reviewed by Barbara Bietz

How Mitzvah Giraffe Got His Long, Long Neck by David Sokoloff is missing from the Ohavi Zedek Library.  All borrowed library items may be left in the return box outside the library door.  Library titles should be signed out during Hebrew School or with the self sign out forms in the front office and in the library.
